Upstream Brewing Company, nestled in the heart of Omaha at 514 S 11th St, is your go-to destination for a delightful blend of craft breweries and pub-style fare, all within the charming ambiance of a former firehouse. This unique eatery, with its rustic decor and inviting atmosphere, is perfect for a casual meal with friends or an intimate date night, especially when you opt for the beautiful outdoor patio seating that lets you soak in the vibrant city vibe.

The moment you step inside, you are greeted by the tantalizing aroma of freshly brewed beer. Upstream Brewery is renowned for its impressive selection, featuring a myriad of house-made beers that cater to all palates. Guests rave about the option to sample multiple brews with a beer flight, allowing you to find your new favorite. Whether you're a fan of IPAs, stouts, or light ales, the variety ensures there’s something for everyone. However, it’s worth noting that some reviews suggest the absence of a dedicated "sour" beer may leave a niche group longing for more.

While the star of the show may be the beer, the food menu, though somewhat limited, deserves a shoutout. Diners have praised the house-made bread that accompanies their appetizers, particularly the artichoke dip. Although experiences vary, the Tomato Basil Soup has won hearts with its rich, creamy texture—described as a five-star delight by customers. The adult grilled cheese garnished with apple butter showcases inventive flair, although opinions on other items like the spinach artichoke dip are mixed, with some calling it overly buttery. The kids' menu also drew some criticism for being pricey for standard offerings.

The establishment’s environment enhances the dining experience. A second-story lounge features pool tables and additional bar space, promoting a lively atmosphere where you can relax with friends or meet new ones. Many patrons appreciate this youthful and vibrant energy intertwined with the interesting history of the venue.

In summary, Upstream Brewing Company stands out not only for its diverse beer selection but also for the cozy and inviting ambiance that reflects the old-world charm of Omaha. Let the friendly staff guide you through the latest brews and enjoy a flavorful journey in this quintessential local hangout. Whether it’s a casual lunch or an exciting evening out, Upstream Brewing Company is a spot that promises good vibes and cherished memories.

Very cute place downtown. Beer was good. Love being able to get a flight to sample multiple brews. Our party was disappointed that there wasn’t a “sour” beer. I was happy with the beers I sampled. Food was just okay. Tomato basil soup was 5 stars, but the spinach artichoke dip was only two stars due to being mostly melted butter. The adult grilled cheese was okay - the inclusion of apple butter onto the sandwich is great in theory, but I feel there was too much on the sandwich overpowering the cheese and bread.

Cool environment, good beer selection and drinks. Old firehouse definitely worth stopping in. Standard pub style food with vegan options. They make their own bread, which is unique.

Excited to check this place out. Came from Wisconsin. Beer was excellent, service was good. Food was not great, kids menu was very expensive for basically frozen chicken nuggets and "steamed carrots". That were just baby carrots, and never got the dessert that was supposed to come with it. Plus was told the happy hour only is at the bar? Online menu prices didn't match with in person and no where did I find that the happy hour was only at the bar. Anyway, good beer, good atmosphere, food was over priced for what you got. I'd go back for the beer for sure

When they’re on a date recently and was pleasantly impressed. We have been at this place before we sat inside. Their selection of regular food was nothing special to me. However, this time around when we went, we had an outside patio seating, which was very pleasant and very nice. It allowed us to observe Omaha. It allowed us to enjoy that outside perspective. The food was good this time around we ordered appetizers chicken wings were absolutely great. The sauce was not just splattered on the wings, and they seem like they were actually marinated in the buffalo sauce which added to the flavor tremendously. We also ordered fish and chips and after having Gordon Ramsay‘s fish and chips, I was not expecting a whole lot from that. not because it’s not a name brand food or so but mainly because a lot of places in the United States are a hit or miss more miss with the fish and chips than hit. Well, I can say that upstream brewing company knows how to do their fish and chips and they were hands-down absolutely delicious. We would come back here for specifically that meal again.. There are seasonal brews and beers were great. We enjoyed every ounce that. I highly recommend this place.

Pros: big beer selection and good beers, also cocktails. Has a second floor that has outdoor access, it’s got pool tables and another bar/ lounge. Cons: I think some what limited food menu (just my opinion). Not many entree options. You should offer a chicken wings entree (size up yer appetizer) It’s a good joint. I didn’t order good choices for beer but ended up ordering a flight and found way better beers on the menu. I really like the seasonal white stout (and I’m NOT a stout guy). The Oktoberfest also good. For food I ordered the chicken wings and cheese curds. The cheese curds are nothing special. The wings, I wouldn’t really recommend the Thai chili unless you want a sweet sauce. I was banking on it being spicy (server said it was) and it wasn’t. But they have Buffalo and bbq sauces. Wings are still solid - nice and crispy.

Only letdown is that this place doesn't have regular cans or bottles... only crawlers, radlers, or those things that might not last until NEXT weekend (mind you, I'm from outta town, but I like to enjoy outta town craft beers WEEKS after a trip).

Beer was the highlight as far as overall food/beverage quality. Our server was excellent but struggled with managing a large section by herself. The artichoke dip appetizer came to the table cold, but was remade and brought back. The house made bread it came with was very good. The chicken wings were crispy and hot. Not great quality overall. All the veggies including side salad were the freshest quality. Some other notes, overall understaffed, bar backed up and you wait for your drinks much longer than normal restaurant service. IN SUMMARY, NOT MY FIRST CHOICE ANY LONGER.
